The story re-imagines Victor Frankenstein (Elias Koteas) not as a 19th-century scientist, but as a brilliant, disgraced bio-engineer in the near-future. Working in isolation after a catastrophic failure in an artificial intelligence project cost him his funding and reputation, Victor focuses on his radical new endeavor: synthesizing life from inert biological material, aiming to cheat death and prove his genius.

Working in a massive, decommissioned research facility in the remote Arctic, Victor completes his "Creation" (Adam Driver), a being assembled from genetically tailored synthetic tissues and enhanced with neural grafts from a recently deceased prodigy. The Creature is born with superhuman strength, accelerated healing, but the fractured, incomplete consciousness of an infant.

The Creature escapes during a blinding Arctic storm, driven by primal confusion and the searing pain of its chaotic existence. It makes its way south, inadvertently causing destruction and attracting the attention of both the media which dubs it "The Abomination" and a shadowy, military-industrial organization that funded Victor’s initial research and now seeks to weaponize the Creation's unique properties.

While on the run, the Creature, driven by an instinctual need for connection, is briefly befriended by a kind but lonely elderly woman who teaches it basic human empathy and language. When the military organization tracks the Creature down and kills the woman, the Creature's nascent goodness is shattered, replaced by an intelligent, calculated, and vengeful rage directed solely at its creator: Victor Frankenstein.

The Creature relentlessly hunts Victor back to his isolated Arctic lab, leaving a trail of sophisticated destruction. Victor, wracked with guilt and realizing the monstrosity he unleashed, uses his remaining resources to build a second, female Creature, hoping to offer the original Creation the companion it desires in exchange for peace, or, failing that, to create a biological failsafe.

The climax is a devastating confrontation inside the frozen lab. The Creature, seeing the imperfect "Bride" as yet another attempt at control, destroys the second creation and finally faces Victor. Victor, knowing he cannot win, gives the Creature what it truly wanted: acknowledgement of its pain. The Creature spares Victor's life but leaves him utterly ruined, vanishing into the world, now fully aware of its tragic power and ready to define its own terrifying future.
